What a year

What a year it has been so far, a total of 5 sculptures sold this year so far and 1 enquiry in the pipeline. Delivered a medium-sized Crescent Trinity to its new home in Old Basing yesterday where it will be living.

Delivery is one of the most satisfying parts of the process for me, getting to meet the new owners, sometimes for the first time, and also being able to see where my work will be living. The look of excitement and happiness on their faces as they receive their new art piece just fills me with pride.

My first sale this year was through the Cotswold Sculpture Park. They delivered and installed it, and I was not even allowed to know who bought it, which I felt a bit miffed about. I have another installation tomorrow. Celestial Fury will be flying high in Newbury.

I have a busy month coming up as I have been asked to make an Irregularity and have it installed by November. It should be possible; I have ordered all the materials, some of which are arriving today, so hopefully, I can start fabricating and welding today.

I then took a trip up to Newbury to Shaw House and spent the afternoon cleaning my sculptures and chatting with some of the visitors about my work. Jim, the curator, was there as well, and he is always interesting to talk to—quite a character is an understatement.

Next month, I have 7 sculptures to collect and bring home. One will need cleaning, and then it will be heading off to Burton-on-Trent to its new home. The others will be wintering in my back garden, which I am sure my neighbors, especially Babs, will be happy about. She was most upset at the beginning of the year when they all started disappearing to various exhibitions. I had suggested that she could buy one, to which she smiled and said, "Why, when I can see them perfectly well from here?"

I have been sketching some new designs that I am looking forward to making for next year. I just need to model them and work out how to make them. They always work so easily in my head, but as I sketch them, they sometimes become less likely to work or impossible to make.
