I have finally been paid by CSP for the sculpture they sold in May. This means I can order some materials for the miniature Eternal Flame and Yin Yang that I plan to make.
Awaiting the Judges' Decision
Still awaiting the judges' decision on Celestial Fury being displayed at CarFest later this year. Apparently, I am on the short list. We were supposed to know two days ago.
I think they are having health and safety issues with the size and movement of my piece. They have asked for all sorts of extra information, structural calculations, and how I intend to secure it. I had asked them months ago where and on what ground the sculpture would be placed, so I could come up with a suitable fixing for it. However, they refused to tell me. They said I needed to wait until the judges' decision.
It seems to me they are very disorganised and not very professional. How can they expect me to give them details on installation without knowing the ground it will be placed on?
Installation Challenges
I had assumed it would be on grass and designed a stand that could either sit on top and be pegged down or, better still, be buried into the grass and pinned. I also bought in some big galvanised U pins just on the off chance.
I have written to several sculpture parks and gardens about displaying my work. Hopefully, I can spread it about next year rather than just at the CSP.
Future Plans
As I look ahead, I am excited about the possibilities. The miniature Eternal Flame and Yin Yang sculptures will be a new challenge. I plan to experiment with different materials and techniques. This will not only enhance my skills but also broaden my artistic expression.
I believe that showcasing my work in various locations will help me reach a wider audience. Each display will provide an opportunity for feedback and growth. I am eager to see how my sculptures resonate with different viewers.
Networking and Opportunities
Networking is crucial in the art world. I plan to connect with other artists and galleries. Collaborations can lead to new opportunities. I will attend art events and exhibitions to meet potential partners and mentors.
Social media will also play a significant role in promoting my work. Sharing my process and finished pieces can attract attention. Engaging with followers can create a supportive community around my art.
Conclusion
In conclusion, while there are challenges ahead, I remain optimistic. The journey of an artist is filled with ups and downs. Each experience shapes my work and perspective. I look forward to what the future holds and the stories my sculptures will tell.
I am excited about the upcoming projects and the potential for growth. The phrase "art is a journey" resonates deeply with me. I embrace every step along the way, knowing it contributes to my artistic evolution.
